Candidates who meet the IEC criteria and submit a profile will be accepted into one or more pools of potential candidates.
CIC will regularly invite candidates from the IEC pools to apply for a work permit. These are called rounds of invitations.
Eligible candidates will be invited from the pools to apply for a work permit at regular intervals throughout the year and in numbers that are in line with periods of high demand. Rounds of invitations will take place until there are no more spots available.
The dates of the first rounds of invitations for each country and category, along with the quota, will be added to this page when they become available. CIC will provide a minimum of five days notice before each country’s and category’s final rounds of invitations, prior to the closing of a pool at the end of a season.
Profiles can be created and submitted to an IEC pool at no cost anytime during the season. Candidates who do not receive an Invitation to Apply during the first round may receive one in the future. If candidates submit their profile before the season’s final round of invitations for a country and category, they can still be invited to apply for a work permit.
Schedule for the 2016 season
Note: The number of spots available is updated on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.
If you are eligible, you can submit a profile to this pool as of November 30, 2015.
Quota: 5,000 First round of invitations: December 16, 2015 Final round of invitations: To be announced
There are usually more spots than candidates in the Young Professionals and International Co-op (Internship) categories. Candidates in these pools will usually receive an Invitation to Apply for a work permit.
The Working Holiday category is very popular. This means that there are usually more candidates than spots available. CIC does not guarantee that all eligible candidates with a profile in the Working Holiday pools will get an Invitation to Apply for a work permit.
